Spring Newsletter: What's going on in SE5 this month?

Welcome to your Urban Village Newsletter, your update on the latest from SE5. Accompanying spring are the green shoots of recovery — the property market looks more vibrant than ever, and the community celebrates exciting new ventures and the return of beloved local fixtures.

Urban Village turns 7 this year, and we’re thrilled to be not just your local property experts, but also a mainstay of the neighbourhood we love so much. We’ve picked out the latest developments for 2022, and some highlights that you can look forward to this spring.

What’s going on in your area this month?

Little Cellars on the way

The Camberwell companion to Peckham Cellars is due to open later this year. Little Cellars will offer wine fanatics the chance to sample and purchase an eclectic selection from small-scale wine makers, chosen for flavour and responsible growing practices.

A new deli for Camberwell Green

Following a superb launch event, independent grocer and deli Gladwell’s is now open in Camberwell. Its founders grew up locally, and dreamed of opening a food shop in the area. Now they’re combining greengrocer, deli, butcher, bakery, fishmonger, wine merchant, and cheese monger under one roof on Camberwell Green.

Paddling back in Ruskin Park

Thanks to the generosity and brilliant efforts of local volunteers, Ruskin Park paddling pool will be open again in time for summer. The new pool will feature 8 more water jets, a renovated plant room, a repaired pool surface, and its own dedicated mains water supply. All are invited to come and celebrate the reopening on 28 May.

Forza Win to reopen in Camberwell

Camberwell prepares to welcome Italian restaurant Forza Win to the neighbourhood. Formerly based in a Peckham warehouse, Forza Win closed in August 2020, and now prepares for its triumphant return to SE5.

Camberwell Clarion

From the team that brought you the Peckham Peculiar, the new Camberwell Clarion is now available, free, from all good stockists. Pick up your copy at Urban Village HQ.

What to do this Spring

Tennis in Ruskin Park

Urban Village is proud to sponsor Ruskin Bark 2022. Come and watch south London’s proudest pooches compete for waggiest tail, best outfit, and best owner lookalike. Come to enjoy the show, stalls, food, and games, or enter your own dog in the contest for a chance to win prizes and, of course, a coveted winner’s rose

Property News

South London more desirable than ever

Demand for property in SE5 is at an all time high. Vibrant communities and easy commutes mean that Denmark Hill, Camberwell, Herne Hill, and surrounding areas are attracting more families and first-time buyers, with rental flats also in serious demand.

Rental sector seeks family tenants

Lambeth and Southwark’s new licensing legislation requires landlords to hold a licence for a tenancy of three or more unrelated sharers. As such, landlords are very keen to avoid extra red tape by letting to families.

Switching your management

Switch your rental management company to Urban Village and we will perform a full compliance check and oversee any works required, for a monthly management fee of only 5% incl. VAT.
