Stockwell is a diverse vibrant area with good transport links, fantastic local amenities, and a rich history. It has also been described as one of South Londons up-&-coming neighbourhoods.

A historically fascinating place, Stockwell was originally a rural manor, home to botanical gardens and with its derivation from ‘Stoc’ – an old English word for a tree trunk or post. Worldly residents have included Vincent Van Gogh, David Bowie, Roger Moore, Will Self and more recently the Absolutely Fabulous Joanna Lumley.

Stockwell is nestled in the Borough of Lambeth in South West London, it borders Brixton, Clapham, Oval, Kennington, and Camberwell all of which are easily accessible on foot or by one of its many bus routes or indeed via Stockwell tube station where you have access to both the Victorian and Northern lines. It also features a cycle superhighway and a National Express stop.

Local Supermarkets include Sainsburys, Lidl and Tesco. There are a wide range of cuisines with very highly rated Ethiopian, African, Peruvian and Mediterranean restaurants close to the tube station as well as a number of celebrated cafes, bars and pubs. Slade Gardens and Larkhall Park are also nearby and boast of cafés, playgrounds, basketball & tennis courts and even football pitches.

Platanos College is a local high performing mainstream, state funded senior school (ages 11 – 16) for mixed genders it has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted. There are also good local primary schools including St Stephen's Church of England, Stockwell Academy and Allen Edwards as well as a number of popular nurseries.
